Rohi partnered again with Austin Chinese American Network (ACAN) and Hope Chapel Youth Group on a trip to Piedras Negras, March 17-21, 2025. We had an AMAZING Trip. This is our third annual trip with ACAN and second annual trip with Hope Chapel.

The 29 participants from ACAN and 24 from Hope Chapel, plus Scott and Cory (Rohi Directors) + family (including two exchange students), brought our team to 58 (47 teens and 11 adults). God was so very faithful. We were blessed to serve with Ken and Leah Spieler at the ministry center they run in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Over the course of the 5 day trip, we visited three schools to do engineering activities (making paper bridges), built a sidewalk linking two buildings at the ministry center, painted a building, and held two evening fiestas (as outreach and evangelistic events for local churches). AND we fed ourselves, with the help of team lead Andrea Mates! Feeding that many teens is no small task, but we were very well fed by everyone's accounts. Andrea even planned a menu to include lots of Chinese food! We also had daily team meetings, where participants could relfect and share. At those, two teens and two adults gave testimonies in front of the group. After Happy Noodle time (a 9 PM snack mainly consisting of instant noodles), we had our nightly worship and devotional meeting for those wanting to learn more about Jesus.

The last night we had a shopping trip to downtown Piedras Negras and ate dinner in a food court. Funny enough, of the five restaurants open, two were Chinese and one was Korean! The store next to the food court (Home China) held a treasure trove of finds, includng swords, which were a popular purchase. The irony of it all was not lost, but was a sign that our partnership with ACAN was preordained!
